King Paluta Slams DJ Slim Over Artist of the Year Comments: “Dem for Delete You All from the Industry”

A heated exchange erupted on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday after popular Ghanaian DJ, DJ Slim, made a controversial statement regarding the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) Artist of the Year race. In his post, DJ Slim claimed that only Stonebwoy and King Promise deserve the coveted award, citing a lack of visible effort from the other nominees.

“I will be disappointed in Ghana Music Awards if they give the Artist of the Year award to anybody apart from Stonebwoy or King Promise,” DJ Slim wrote. “You can’t show less interest in the scheme and expect to be awarded. This nonsense must stop.”

His comments did not sit well with King Paluta, one of the leading contenders for this year’s Artist of the Year title. The rapper, known for his unique style and street-inspired lyrics, fired back at DJ Slim in a fiery tweet that quickly gained traction online.

“Fada! This be loose talk!! So they should award based on PR and not metrics?” King Paluta responded. “If someone doesn’t campaign and he deserves it, they shouldn’t give it to him?? Dem for delete you all from the industry.”

King Paluta’s clapback sparked widespread discussion among fans and industry insiders, with many weighing in on whether active campaigning should influence award decisions. While some agreed with DJ Slim’s take, arguing that public visibility and engagement matter, others sided with King Paluta, insisting that actual metrics, such as streaming numbers, performances, and impact should be the deciding factors.

As the awards ceremony draws nearer, the tension surrounding the Artist of the Year race continues to intensify, with artists and fans alike watching closely to see how the debate over merit versus marketing will play out.
