Empress Gifty’s ‘Watch Me’ Wins Best Traditional Gospel Song at 26th TGMA

Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has clinched the Best Traditional Gospel Song award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for her hit single “Watch Me.” The song, released on September 8, 2024, has resonated with audiences nationwide, blending traditional gospel elements with contemporary sounds.

In an interview, Empress Gifty revealed that the inspiration for “Watch Me” was prophetic. She recounted how Prophet Eric Boahen prophesied earlier in 2024 that she would receive a song that would “blow her away.” This prophecy materialized when musician Kuami Eugene presented her with the song, which she felt aligned perfectly with the earlier revelation. Empress Gifty emphasized that Kuami Eugene did not charge for the song and allowed her full rights, including royalties.

The song’s success is evident, with “Watch Me” garnering significant attention on platforms like TikTok and radio stations across Ghana. Its empowering lyrics and uplifting melody have made it a favorite among gospel music enthusiasts.

Empress Gifty’s win at the TGMA underscores her influence in the gospel music scene and her ability to connect with listeners through spiritually inspired music.
