On Monday afternoon, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joined fellow Ghanaians at Accra’s Akwaaba Village to show solidarity with Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the Ghanaian singer aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. Afua commenced her ambitious endeavor at midnight on Christmas eve, with the goal of surpassing the current record held by Indian Sunil Waghmare, who sang continuously for 105 hours in 2012.
Making an unexpected appearance at Akwaaba Village, Dr. Bawumia joined the enthusiastic crowd of young Ghanaians in cheering Afua on as she approached the 48th hour of her singing marathon. Holding a miniature Ghanaian flag, the Vice President stood alongside the audience, offering support to Afua as she performed a repertoire of gospel and highlife songs.
After spending some time encouraging Afua, Dr. Bawumia engaged with the crowd and, subsequently, faced an impromptu interview with the media. He expressed confidence in Afua’s ability to break the record and urged all Ghanaians to continue supporting and cheering her on until she achieves this remarkable feat.
