Ghanaian social media influencer Kalyjay, whose real name is Joshua Boye-Doe, has made some shocking revelations about the lucrative offers he’s received from various political parties. In a recent X post, Kalyjay claimed that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) offered him a whopping GH¢805,000 to promote their works, but he turned it down.
Kalyjay also shared a screenshot of a meeting invitation from 2021 where he was offered $50,000 for six months to support a political party, which he referred to as “yaanom.” He was asked to create an NGO to facilitate the transaction, but he rejected the offer, choosing instead to continue criticizing the party on Twitter.
The influencer has become a sought-after figure for political parties looking to leverage social media to sway public opinion. He confessed to taking gigs from the New Force, collaborating with other influencers to boost the movement’s online presence. However, the deal was largely unsuccessful due to some influencers’ reluctance to fulfill their obligations while expecting full payment.
Interestingly, Kalyjay revealed that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta paid him to promote an agenda related to the cedi. On the other hand, he maintained that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) hasn’t paid him to promote their works, and that his campaigns are entirely his own ideas, even if they sometimes align with the NDC’s interests.
Kalyjay’s claims have sparked skepticism among netizens, with some questioning the authenticity of his statements. Nevertheless, his revelations provide a glimpse into the complex and often opaque world of political influencer marketing in Ghana.
