Ghanaian Afrobeat sensation, Jackline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, recently shared intriguing insights into her unconventional journey from aspiring entrepreneur to a rising musical star. Before making waves in the music industry, Gyakie’s aspirations led her to enroll in a degree program in International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

During her appearance on The Day Show with Berla Mundi, Gyakie nostalgically recounted how her serendipitous introduction to the world of music took place. It all started on the KNUST campus when she crossed paths with her producer, Sosa, thanks to a mutual friend.

In her own words, Gyakie reminisced, “Prior to my university admission, my ambition revolved around entrepreneurship, and I aimed to achieve financial success. This drove me to pursue a degree in International Business at KNUST. Little did I know that my life would take a different turn when I met Sosa on campus through a friend.”

The catalyst for her transformation into a musician came when Sosa shared a beat with her, ultimately becoming her debut single on various streaming platforms. It was through this experience that Gyakie discovered her innate songwriting abilities.

Her very first composition, “Never Like This,” saw the light of day on music streaming platforms, marking the initiation of her promising music career. Gyakie’s unique blend of Afrobeat and soulful melodies quickly caught the attention of music enthusiasts worldwide.

Since her debut, Gyakie has consistently delivered chart-topping hits, further solidifying her position in the music industry. Tracks like “Something” and her recent release, “Rent Free,” have created quite a buzz on various social media platforms, captivating the hearts of music lovers and ensuring her steady rise to stardom.
