Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has come to the defense of his former associate, Reggae/Dancehall icon Shatta Wale, dismissing claims that the musician is a villain.
In a candid interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo program, Pope Skinny attributed Shatta Wale’s negative perception to his outspoken nature.
“Shatta Wale is often misunderstood,” Pope Skinny said. “He only reacts when provoked.”
Pope Skinny credited Shatta Wale with teaching him valuable life skills, including confidence and financial management.
“I learned confidence from Shatta Wale,” he revealed. “He also taught me how to save money. Shatta Wale saves a lot.”
Addressing rumors, Pope Skinny clarified that Shatta Wale did not buy him a Mercedes Benz, despite announcing a new Benz in the family.
Pope Skinny reflected on their past, expressing regret over their deteriorated relationship.
“I miss him every day,” he admitted. “He’s our guy.”
Despite their fallout, Pope Skinny acknowledged Shatta Wale’s positive impact on his life.
“Shatta Wale helped me develop financial prudence and self-confidence,” he noted.
