Award-winning international DJ, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his Capital Xtra radio show “until further notice” after several allegations of sexual misconduct.
This station’s parent company has said in a statement issued to the BBC.
His exit follows allegations from seven women of predatory sexual behaviour and touching by the British hip-hop DJ, something Westwood has denied.
“Following the claims that have recently come to light, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show until further notice,” a statement from Global said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, a joint investigation by the BBC and The Guardian featured the accounts of seven women relating to alleged incidents between 1992 and 2017.
Two of his forthcoming DJ sets in Birmingham and Bognor Regis have also been canceled in light of the allegations.
The seven women who accused Westwood of sexual misconduct shared their stories in a new documentary on BBC titled, Tim Westwood: Abuse Of Power.
Four of the women accused Westwood of inappropriately touching them after meeting him at his DJ sets. Two other women claimed that he tried to initiate unwanted sexual intercourse while another woman accused Westwood of subjecting her to oral sex without her consent.
