GHAMRO Has Failed Me, No Royalties Received – Ypee

Ghanaian rapper Ypee has opened up about his struggles with the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), revealing that he has never received any royalties for his work. Despite having a successful music career, Ypee claims that GHAMRO has failed to compensate him for his creative efforts.

In a recent interview, Ypee shared his frustration, stating, “I have never received any royalties from GHAMRO.” He jokingly referred to veteran artiste Esther Smith’s meager earnings of GH₵500.00 from the organization, saying, “If Esther Smith, with her extensive discography, earned only that amount, what can I expect?”

Ypee’s comments have called a heated debate on social media, other Artists are also expressing their disappointment in GHAMRO’s handling of royalties. This is not the first time an artiste has spoken out against the organization, as Bisa Kdei, Keche, and Fancy Gadam have also expressed similar concerns.

The “Didi Me Botom” hitmaker’s experience raises questions about the effectiveness of GHAMRO in supporting Ghanaian artistes and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their work.
