‘I want to be the IGP if John Mahama wins in 2024’ – Bukom Banku

Bukom Banku, Ghana’s renowned boxer, has made a bold appeal to John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, to consider him for a key security role if he wins the 2024 elections. As a dedicated NDC supporter, Bukom Banku has been actively campaigning for Mahama, despite conflicting predictions from local pastors. He’s confident Mahama will emerge victorious and hopes to secure a prominent position, possibly even as Inspector General of Police (IGP).

In an interview with Asempa FM, Bukom Banku expressed his optimism, saying, “The prophets have been making varying prophecies, but I know Mahama will win. I pray he does, so he can give me the IGP position.” When asked about his lack of police experience, Bukom Banku countered, “The role doesn’t require much paperwork. My goal is to ensure peace and orderliness in Ghana. No noise, no disorder. Not having police experience doesn’t disqualify me.”

Bukom Banku’s enthusiasm for Mahama’s presidency and his own potential role in security is undeniable. With Ghana’s general elections slated for December 7, 2024, only time will tell if his dreams will become a reality.
