Tertiary students currently on campus are set for a memorable experience as Africa’s most expansive music streaming and download platform, Boomplay, teams up with leading smartphone brand, TECNO, for a fun-packed tour across four institutions.

Dubbed the ”Boomplay x TECNO Campus Tour” and scheduled to take place between June and July 2023, the two brands will visit the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Ghana (UG, Legon), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Takoradi Technical University (TTU). The climax of the tour will feature a mega concert where students of the selected institutions will vote on the Boomplay platform to decide which campus hosts the star studded concert.

“We are poised to extend the fun on the Boomplay app beyond the platform to our users and their community. Hence, our decision to bring an exhilarating roadshow experience to the selected tertiary institutions. Students on these campuses should expect pulsating musical performances from their favourite artists, engaging fun games and social trends, product activation and goodies from Boomplay and TECNO. We are excited to have TECNO as our lead partner for the maiden edition of the campus tour,” Paul Azumah-Ayitey, Public Relations Manager for Boomplay, shared.

Commenting on the partnership, Awurakua Antwi, Public Relations & South-East Marketing Manager for TECHNO commented that, “At TECNO, our mission is to provide innovative and affordable smartphones that empower individuals to express their creativity, stay connected, and achieve their goals. This mission has guided TECNO’s excitement to collaborate with Boomplay as lead partner on this star-dubbed campus tour, where we can reach out to young, ambitious minds and offer them a platform to explore their limitless potential. TECNO understands that today’s youth are not just consumers; they are creators and influencers, therefore as a technology partner, we are committed to equipping students with the best smartphones innovation they need in an increasingly digital world and to discover and embrace the power of technology.”

University of Cape Coast (UCC) was selected as the first stop for the ”Boomplay x TECNO Campus Tour”. Planned for Thursday 29th June, 2023 to Saturday, 1st July, 2023, the tour lived up to expectations over the weekend. It unfolded as a 3-day roadshow experience on the UCC campus with each day having its set of activities including music performances, board games, karaoke, lip-sync battle, musical chairs, fashion trivia and a health walk on the last day.
UCC was set in ecstasy by the engaging and explosive performances from the likes of Quamina Mp, Djay, Maya Blu, DSL, Yaw Hero and many others including a number of campus stars taking turns on the performance stage. There were product activation stands with giveaways at Valco Hall by the two main partner brands, Boomplay and TECHNO, and supporting brand, Indomie. Students got the opportunity to capture the fun and memorable moments in photo booths with the new TECNO CAMON 20 phone.
Next stop is the University of Ghana (UG Legon) campus and starts from Thursday 6th July, 2023 to Saturday 8th July, 2023. Afterwards the tour heads to Takoradi Techical University (TTU) the following week and then Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) the week after before the finale is announced.
