Popular Ghanaian radio presenter, Abdul Karim, known professionally as Nana Romeo, has issued an apology for his remarks regarding the tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young women, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh.
The fatal incident occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, involving the son of Bishop Salifu Amoako. During a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz program on October 19, 2024, Nana Romeo shared his perspective as a Muslim, emphasizing that Allah gives and takes life. He stated that the manner of one’s death should not be questioned, sparking widespread criticism.
Facing backlash, Nana Romeo clarified his statement on Accra FM, stressing that his intention was not to exacerbate the grief of the bereaved families. He explained that his comments were rooted in his understanding of Islam.
“I didn’t mean to deepen the pain of the families,” Nana Romeo pleaded. “If my words were misunderstood, I apologize.” The presenter also expressed his sadness over the tragic incident.
Nana Romeo’s apology comes amidst public outcry, with many calling for empathy and sensitivity in addressing tragic events. This incident highlights the importance of thoughtful communication, particularly in moments of grief.
